In the month of July, McCoy-Rockford was grateful to have two opportunities to donate to Habitat for Humanity. The pictures below show our second shipment of carpet being loaded for delivery by Darris Amos and Henry Jefferson. This shipment included 5 pallets of carpet tile and 65 rolls of broadloom carpet, varying in size. In total, we were able to deliver two 27-foot trailers loaded with floor covering.
Sheryl Lancaster, McCoy-Rockford's Fleet and Facilities Manager states why this was an important time to donate, "With the recent flooding in the Houston area, we saw an opportunity to provide for folks in our community. This helps people with little or no insurance by supporting their ability to be in a safe and healthy home." Lancaster said McCoy-Rockford places great value on the partnership with Habitat for Humanity. "We have an excellent relationship. We want to be a partner with them in our community, providing a good resource for folks with limited funds. Our donation helps Habitat provide housing for people who just don't have the money. It's a nice little circle."
For 27 years, the Houston Habitat mission has basically remained the same, to provide decent housing for low to moderate income families so they might thrive and have hope for a better future. To date, more than 960 Houston Habitat homes have been built housing over 3600 people, from infants to the elderly. Houston Habitat relies on donor support and does not receive funds from Habitat International or United Way.¹
We are proud to help support this cause for the greater good of our community. One of our core values at McCoy-Rockford is "Doing the right thing is the right thing to do." July's donations to Habitat are perfect examples of our people living out our commitment to this value.
